Chess Board Coaster

Chess is one of my hobbies and I wanted to build a proper board, so before committing to a full-size one I made a single square of the pattern at coaster scale to find out whether the process worked.

I laser-cut all the tiles, cut a plywood base to size, laid the squares out in the right arrangement and let the whole thing set under wood glue. Then iron-on edge banding around the sides, sanded flush, and a waterproof finish. Going to make the full chessboard soon!!
